Call for Tutorials for SBSI 2021
Description
Tutorials are short events and its goal is to present an overview of a research topic or some technology that stimulates the interest of the Information Systems community. We expected the participants have the opportunity to learn about new topic linked to their professional or research area, and, also to identify elements for applying and improving their research and/or practice.
We invite the IS Community to propose a short course for the 17th Brazilian Symposium on Information Systems (SBSI 2021), which will take place in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais. Tutorials can be introductory or advanced, and must be related to the topics of interest to the symposium.
Scope and target audience
The target audience of tutorials is: undergraduate students, graduate students, Industry practitioners, high-school students, professors of Information Systems. The tutorials can cover elementary concepts and aspects of emerging technologies in Information Systems.
Proposal Submission
The proposals have to be submitted by JEMS - SBC - System ( https://jems.sbc.org.br/home.cgi?c=3705 ). The proposal submissions will be done in two phases: First, a proposal will be presented for evaluation and, in the second phase, the tutorial content will be submitted (text and slides). Only for the approved proposals.
Important News
In the Information Systems Community meeting (2019), we made some changes regarding the SBSI tutorials:
-
The tutorials will be in the SBSI event and with community proposals submissions;
-
A book chapter have to be created by the authors and such chapter will be evaluated as tutorial proposal;
-
The tutorials will be free for all SBSI attends;
-
The SBSI organization committee will not be responsible for funding or any financial supporting to the tutorials' presenters, including travel expenses;
-
The IS Community decided to limit the number of tutorials for each SBSI edition. The limit is 2 (two) tutorials approved;
-
The SBSI organization committee is analyzing the possibility of tutorial video recording and to make available in YouTube platform.
Thus, we recommend that experts and seniors researchers present their tutorial proposals, highlighting their experience in one or more of topics described below. Also, it is important to present the publication in relevant venues in Information System research area.
The tutorials theme needs to cover one or more topics of interest of SBSI main track. However, the proposals and text will be analyzed regarding IS community relevance. So some very specific research topics should be avoided. Please, see the topics of interest below:
Topics of Interest:
We will give preference to practical tutorials. So, the proposals need to highlight the practical strategies and dynamic aspects in order to promote the interaction between the presenter and the audience.
The format
In the first phase, the tutorial proposal must be written in Portuguese or English and have a maximum of 4 pages (format of SBC articles), including the following information:

- Tutorial time (4 hours);

- Outline containing the main topics and the syllabus;
- Main bibliographic references;
